RED Day 2012! We Give Where We Live.

RED (Renew, Energize and Donate) Day is an annual initiative held by Keller Williams associates nationwide as a way to improve the local community, and “Give where we live”.

Tens of thousands of associates in over 600 Market Centers across the nation participated in a wide array of initiates this past May 10th. The Keller Williams Greater Des Moines market center was no exception!

Associates from Keller Williams Greater Des Moines spent the day collecting household items to benefit the Freestore, a local charitable organization that provides furniture, and other household items, to victims of domestic violence, needy families, or those establishing a new residence after a major life event. The Freestore is run entirely by volunteers, and has served more than 22,000 families since 2006.

Donations came in from customers, members of the general public, and associates themselves. KWDSM was thrilled to have the assistance of neighboring Flooring America of Clive, who provided trucks and manpower to pickup donations from all over town, in partnership with the associates.

By 7:00 PM, KWDSM was able to donate an entire semi-trailer of items! In addition to the household goods, the 34 associates also donated nearly $2,000 from an office collection, to the Freestore.

“I am not sure the strip mall knew what hit them, when an army of Red appeared and began unloading an entire semi truck,” said Brian Wentz, Team Leader. “Culturally, this is who we are as a company, and as a group, so it was no surprise to me we would make this happen in a big way.”

Recognizing her leadership in guiding the culture of Keller Williams Realty International, RED Day is held on May 10th in honor of Mo Anderson, Vice Chairman of the Board.
