CLIVE – Burnett Realty, a leading independent central Iowa brokerage since its founding 12 years ago, merged today with Keller Williams® Realty, which is the fastest-growing residential real estate firm in North America and the nation’s second-largest real estate franchise.
The firm, located at 10200 Hickman Court, will operate under the name Keller Williams® Greater Des Moines effective immediately. Doug Burnett, who founded Burnett Realty in March 2000, will remain with Keller Williams as an investor. Kacy Bell, of Tulsa, Okla., will lead the firm as its operating principal.
“This merger’s synergies will have a positive effect on our agents and for the buyers and sellers we serve in the greater Des Moines area,” Burnett said. “Burnett Realty has always had a solid reputation for high-quality client service and unparalleled ethical standards. The decision to become a Keller Williams® franchise was based on our similar beliefs in cultural and professional standards.”
He added, “A large part of making this decision is that this really was the only way we were going to grow and grow in a way congruent with our values. And, growth is very important to give agents all the tools they need to succeed and to serve our clients.”
Bell said Keller Williams® Realty distinguishes itself in education and support of the Realtors® and service to their customers. Aspects of support include a network of nearly 80,000 associates and a unique use of technology that takes advantage of 300 search engines that ensure every potential lead ends up in the hands of the listing agent.
“We give agents the tools and information to get the job done,” Bell said. “That’s why, on average, Keller Williams agents were almost three times more effective than the National Association of Realtors average in sales closed last year. That’s great for agents and, especially, the people they represent.”
This is the second market center for Keller Williams® Realty in Iowa, the first of which is located in the Quad Cities. They are excited to enter one of the few major markets without a Keller Williams® Realty. This focus on growth has grown the company 34.8 percent between 2005 and 2010.
“Keller Williams is excited about opening a new market center in greater Des Moines,” said Mark Willis, chief executive offer of Keller Williams® Realty International. “Our company has a policy of limiting its market presence by selecting only the premier partners in a given area. These individuals are top producers – or have the potential to be so. By maintaining our standards of excellence, we can provide Keller Williams Realty customers with the best real estate experience possible.”
